Preliminary results show that I received 6,449 votes which is a fantastic achievement for a first attempt. As it turned out I needed just under twice that number to get elected.
Considering that I only decided to stand as the nominations were due and only spent $500 on the campaign the result is a brilliant base on which to build for next time.
I was told that it would take two or three attempts (as proved by Paul Bruce’s successful campaign being his third) and that you need at least a full year to build your campaign. All four of the encumbents were returned.
It’s been a steep learning curve but one that I’ve enjoyed emmencely.
