The Moving Sky

“the way I had come

and, secretly,

the way

I was still to go,

brought together

in the unyielding ground

and in the symmetry

of the moving sky,

caught in still waters,”

~ David Whyte from ‘Twice Blessed

“The Moving Sky” Kenepuru Heads, oil on canvas 300x300mm

The Moving Sky from home here at the Kenepuru Heads – the stillness soaking in, moving with the sky. This is one of my three paintings currently on show at the Mitchell Studios in Khandallah, Wellington till August 24th. These three plus a few others of mine are part of a Ngaio Fine Arts Revisited collection with some fabulous paintings that have a connection with Suzanne and Max Beer over the years. I’m very happy to be included in this collection as a tribute to these two who represented me in Wellington for over thirty years, selling many of my works in the process.

“Be still and Listen” – Punakaiki, West Coast, oil on canvas 275x750mm
“Awakening and Surrender” – Houghton Bay Wellington, oil on canvas 1200x550mm

  1. I love your work! The top one reminds me of Turner’s Buttermere…a gentler one…the detail is not the same but the sense of mist is. The poem you chose and the title…as fine as the fine painting.
